From the Tee Box to the Corner Office: How to Build Relationships and Close Deals with the most influential and inaccessible people in the world

Right now, with your current strategy, what are the odds that you could have a one-on-one conversation with someone you are dying to open a new account with? Very little to non-existent, unless you happen to sit next to him or her on a plane, sit on one of the top boards in the nation or it’s one of your buddies parents, but for most of us it’s just a pipe dream. I’m excited to have with me on my first interview for the 100 Women in golf, a woman who discovered her love for journalism in 8th grade when one of her stories inspired an olympic swimmer to have hope when he’d lost it, and then went on to swim at USC and graduate...

Having the right equipment is crucial to this sport, but you don’t have to invest a lot of money to have decent equipment. You just need a set of clubs that fits your game and physical swing. How To Play Golf

How To Play Golf

To play business golf you need a basic understanding of the game of golf. The best way to start is by learning the purpose of the game (how a person would essentially shoot par, the intended number of strokes to get through the whole course.) After you understand the game, then you will be ready to learn what the different clubs in a typical golf set do and how to use them.

Picking the Right Playing Partners

Picking the Right Playing Partners

Golf is a time consuming game which makes it all the more important to pick the right playing partners. No wants to get stuck with a dud who isn’t fun and can’t help them in their business. I mean aren’t all relationships for pleasure (friendship, etc) or for advancement in ones career/life?

Practice Makes Perfect At The Driving Range

Practice Makes Perfect At The Driving Range

The biggest mistake people make when getting into golf is assuming that it will be easy.
How many of us have started something new and were instant professionals? Tiger Woods…put your hand down because you don’t count. The rest of us can only hope to be a quarter as good at golf as you are.

What to Wear as a Spectator at a Pro Golf Tournament

What to Wear as a Spectator at a Pro Golf Tournament

There have been countless studies in Psychology on the correlation between what clothes you wear and how people perceive you. The outcomes of these studies proved that if you dress outside of the norm at an event people will judge you more than the others who followed suit clothing wise at the event. Its kind of like the ugly duckling – although the ugly duckling was a swan and was actually very beautiful, growing up it did not know this because it didn’t look like its brothers and sisters. Same thing goes at a Golf Tournament.

5 More Golf Talking Points to Boost your Biz

This Week is the Ryder Cup. It’s kind of like the World Cup for Golf, but with only 2 teams, Europe and USA. So… who do you think will win? Europe or USA? Can You Find a Mentor on the Golf Course?

Can You Find a Mentor on the Golf Course?

The big craze these days is for women to find a mentor who will help them get to the next level in their careers. I personally have made the mistake of outright asking someone to be my mentor and got the awkward umm… I don’t know you that well. I’m in the middle of reading Sheryl Sandbergs new book “Lean In” and she addresses the topic of mentorship wonderfully. To summarize her findings it is best that you don’t just go out and ask someone to be your mentor, instead ask them to help you with a small problem or small task and then work up to the bigger ones.

Score Some Points With Your Boss Through Golf History

Score Some Points With Your Boss Through Golf History

Growing up I hated history. I was never great at memorizing dates or knowing which General won which battle during the Civil War, but I wish I had. It is interesting how people bond over historical knowledge and for the first time in my life I’ve taken a liking to golf history.

5 Things you Should Never Do on the Golf Course

5 Things you Should Never Do on the Golf Course

Play Slow – It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, slow play is very irritating. The game of golf already take 4 hours, so who would be excited for it to take upwards of 5 hours? During that last hour you could have already eaten lunch and finished a few drinks on the 19th hole. A few ways to speed up the game are by taking less practice swings, picking up after you have reached double par, and playing ready golf.

PGA of America President Fired for Calling a Player a “Lil Girl”

The hottest news in the golf world right now is that of Ted Bishop (President of the PGA of America) getting fired after tweeting immature remarks to professional golfer Ian Poulter. Ian Poulter had been in the news for criticizing Sir Nick Faldo (legendary golfer) in his recently published autobiography. Before meeting Faldo for dinner, Bishop tweeted to Poulter: “Faldo’s record stands by itself. Six majors and all-time Ryder Cup points. Yours vs. His? Lil Girl.” He also criticized Poulter on Facebook, writing, “Sounds like a little school girl squealing during recess. C’MON MAN!”
